The E4B, the National Airborne Operations Center, provides an airborne operations center in case of a national emergency or destruction of ground command centers. A militarized version of the Boeing 747-200, it is outfitted to provide a modern highly survivable, command, control and communications center to direct U.S. forces, to execute emergency war orders, and to coordinate actions by civil authorities. Additionally, this aircraft supports the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), by flying emergency response teams to a disaster area (hurricane, tornado, etc.) and acting as the agency’s command and control center until FEMA’s equipment and facilities can be set up.

Cornet Technology is part of a team that is responsible for updating the communications system of this vital center. Our system enables the plane to communicate quickly in changing environments. With the CTI system the plane can communicate while on the ground using T1 lines for off board communication. In the air, the system enables communications to take advantage of VHF/UHF radios and satellites. It also provides a means of automatically testing and monitoring the communication system to ensure reliability.
